Curtis Wolf says the enticing and addictive quality about bird watching is the fact that people want to see the abnormal or the unfamiliar bird they have never seen before.
Wolf serves as the director at Kansas Wetlands Education Center and says the first migrants have already made stops at Cheyenne Bottoms beginning as early as July for the start of fall migration.

Cheyenne Bottoms is located in the middle of the Central Flyway, meaning thousands of birds stop and call the wetlands home before they reach their final destination to the south.
Being a free attraction is one of the best features of viewing Cheyenne Bottoms, but Wolf says there are a few things to keep in mind to experience the wetlands to their fullest.

The Kansas Wetlands Education Center is currently open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The facility is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
