sonicHoisington City Manager Jonathan Mitchell says he has not received a firm completion date for the new Sonic coming to town, but initially he was told by the end of August. Sonic’s fiscal year ends August 31 and the franchise owner Ravi Vallal wanted to have the new store finished by then, but seeing how it is the middle of June and nothing has started Mitchell was unsure how feasible that completion date was.

Regardless of when it is finished, Mitchell feels bringing in a Sonic is great news for the Hoisington economy.

Details for the Sonic restaurant to be built on Main Street were revealed at the Hoisington City Council meeting in late May. The design and indoor seating area will be the only one of its kind in Kansas. The restaurant will be open until 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. and will employ 30 part-time and 15 full-time workers.
