The Barton County Road and Bridge Department will begin their annual sand seal operations later this week in the North Central and Northwest portions of the county.
According to Road and Bridge Director Dale Phillips, the department plans to asphalt seal around 116 miles of county blacktop roads that will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Phillips says generally the work goes fairly quickly but does remind motorists they need to slow down around road crews and remember the roads will have extra sand on them for awhile.
