The City of Hoisington and the Hoisington Emergency Medical Services shelled out $179,000 for a brand new ambulance. The emergency vehicle is customized to Hoisington EMS needs and replaces the previous ambulance that was purchased 16 years ago.

The power-load system will mechanically lift the patients into the ambulance instead of EMS responders having to manually lift the patients themselves. Fleming’s department is still preparing the ambulance with supplies and final installations before it takes the streets full-time.
The old ambulance will be sold to another company that provides ground service.

Fleming is one of two full-time employees with the Hoisington Emergency Medical Services. There are 22 volunteers that serve as responders and Emergency Medical Technicians.
