The USD 428 Board of Education approved the fee changes for all elementary schools, middle school, and high school at Monday’s meeting. There was not much to look at as far as increases. The only noticeable bump was a $5 technology fee for junior high students and a $10 technology fee for high school students. The tech fees are being assessed as an insurance builder for Chromebooks that each student will receive beginning in the 2016-2017 school year.
Board member Dr. Larry Kutina and USD 428 Assistant Superintendent of Business Khris Thexton were surprised that fees have stayed so low over the years.

USD 428 pays mileage reimbursement to parents and guardians for transporting students to and from their assigned school building. Eligibility for reimbursement is based on residing 2.5 miles or more from the assigned school and living outside the city limits. The administration recommended a per-mile rate of 27 cents. During the 2015-2016 school year, USD 428 had 118 families register for the reimbursement program that cost $59,928.20.
