Great Bend High School announced their new head football coach at Tuesday night’s USD 428 Board of Education meeting.
Erin Beck will become the 3rd coach for the Panthers in the past four years. Beck is a Claflin native and graduated from Washburn University in 2008 where he played football for the Ichabods.
Beck spent the past two years as the defensive coordinator at Truman High School in Independence, Missouri.

Beck spent three years as an assistant at Great Bend High School before coaching at Truman. Erin married a Great Bend native, Cindy (Keeley) Beck. The Becks have three children including Luke, Lawson, and Laney.
Beck replaces Tony Crough as head coach. Crough left Great Bend after two season to coach at Andover High School. Crough went 10-9 in his two years with the Panthers and led Great Bend to the Class 5A Playoffs in 2015.
Beck will be officially introduced to the media Wednesday, March 9 at 8 a.m. inside the high school auditorium. Beck will also work in physical education for USD 428.
