Despite a 6-run deficit in the third inning, the Great Bend Bat Cats almost came all the way back, eventually falling 11-10 to the Haysville Aviators on Thursday.

After trailing 7-1 following the end of the 3rd inning, Great Bend came back to take a 9-7 lead in the top of the 6th before Haysville tied it in the bottom half of the inning and eventually scored two more.

Austin Oblas was on the pitcher’s mound for the Bat Cats. He went two innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out three. Nolan Riley and Marco Gutierrez entered the game from the bullpen, throwing four innings and two innings respectively.

Now 6-7, Great Bend will play game two at Haysville tonight at 7:00 and finish off the series tomorrow night.
