The council approved a 26-week inspection contract with PEC over the summer that is set to conclude on March 21, 2018. The governing body elected to initially use a six-month inspection contract for a project that is expected to last a year and a half because of the price and the unknown if it was needed.
The council chose to extend the inspection contract with PEC until the final completion date of March 9, 2019 with an additional fee change order not to exceed $351,835.

When the $6 million of bonds were taken out, approximately $1 million was set aside for design and inspection. Golka noted the City if currently $1.3 million under budget with the project replacing nearly 40,000 linear feet of pipe under mostly 10th Street, Main Street, and Broadway.
n addition to quality control and assurance through oversight of the work done by APAC Kansas, PEC also assists with communication between City departments as well as affected residences and businesses.
