A page in Great Bend history was turned Monday afternoon at the City Hall offices. Dr. Mike Allison hammered down on the gavel one last time.

Allison announced in May of 2017 he was not seeking another term as mayor after serving for 18 years, and Monday he started the meeting that was finished by new mayor, Joe Andrasek.
Allison was joined by Great Bend City Council members Mike Boys, Dana Dawson, and Allene Owen as outgoing elected officials.

Allison noted he retired and sold his dental practice so felt it was time to retire from being mayor as well.
Jolene Biggs, Andrew Erb, Dan Heath, and Cory Urban were elected in November with Andrasek to serve on the council. All of them were sworn into office by Schafer and took their seats to finish the meeting. Biggs was voted to become the president of the council.
