Great Bend car chase ends with 21-year old man arrested for DUI

On Wednesday, October 18 at about 11:18 p.m. Barton County Sheriff’s Deputy Doug Parks was in the area of 24th and Main Street in the city of Great Bend.

The deputy observed a gold 2014 Chevrolet Equinox traveling westbound on 24th St. at a high rate of speed. The vehicle failed to stop at the stoplight.

Deputy Parks activated his lights and siren and the vehicle refuse to yield. The deputy pursued the vehicle for several minutes in the Northwest area of Great Bend. The vehicle finally came to stop at the intersection of 16th and Tyler. The driver was taken into custody without incident.

The driver identified as Jamie D. Nieto, age 21 of Great Bend, was arrested for felony flee and elude, DUI, reckless driving and multiple traffic offenses.

Nieto was booked into the Barton County Jail and later released on a $2,500 bond.
