Several local businesses are joining together to show support and appreciation for all the first responders in Barton County with a special Movie Night on Tuesday, July 25. This event will be held at Golden Belt Cinema 6, located at the corner of Lakin & Kansas Avenue in downtown Great Bend, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Each first responder and a guest will enjoy a complimentary movie along with free soda and popcorn. The first responders will also receive a free gift from the presenting sponsors, which represent many of the major employers in the area.

“The work they do is difficult and dangerous, and far too many of us take for granted the safety and security they provide to our communities,” says Chad Somers, owner of Golden Belt Cinema 6. “Myself, and a number of other local employers, want to express our appreciation for their service and sacrifice, and this event is just one small way we can show them our gratitude.”

The Movie Night is a private event for all firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency medical professionals in Great Bend, Hoisington, Ellinwood, and Claflin. The theatre will be closed to the public on Tuesday, July 25 to accommodate these hometown heroes.

Businesses involved in the project led by Golden Belt Cinema 6 include Benefit Management, Barton Community College, Animal Medical Center, Comfort Pro, 10th Street Eyecare Center, CUNA Mutual Retirement Solutions, Straub International, Marmies, and Marketing Maven Consulting.
