Lane Massey
Larned Mayor William Nusser said the Larned City Council and City Manager Lane Massey mutually agreed to go in a different direction.
The city council voted to non-renew Massey’s contract, but he will remain as the city manager until the city finds a replacement, Massey finds another position, or the original contract runs out.
Nusser says the governing is looking at the hiring process and services of the League of Kansas Municipalities.

Nusser says there was not a huge rush on finding a replacement and wanted to conduct a thorough search for an important position.
At a September city council meeting, former Larned Mayor Bob Pivonka insisted the governing body explain why Massey’s contract was not renewed. Nusser states a contractual security keeps the matter private for the best interest of the employee and the city council.
