dream centerThe Central Kansas Dream Center has been open just over three years, but their expansion of services and resources is growing quickly.

The Dream Center, located at 2100 Broadway in Great Bend, provides services that address immediate and long-term needs in the areas of homelessness, hunger relief, life controlling issues, and education.

Through grant money, Dream Center Executive Director Kimberly Becker says the organization was able to complete the construction on the second floor of their building.

The Dream Center also provides a women’s and children’s homeless transition shelter, soup kitchen, financial aid program, free clothing opportunities, support groups, mental health therapy, and a 9-month discipleship program for those with life-controlling issues.

The Dream Center was recently awarded $200,000 of tax credits from the Kansas Department of Commerce to renovate the third floor of the building.

The third floor, that has been unused until this point, will include a place for married couples to participate in the Dream Center’s programs, construction of medical clinic for volunteer doctors and nurses, a chapel, and a place to house additional staff. Becker says they would like to be done with the third floor renovation by the end of 2017.

The Dream Center will hold an open house on October 15th from 1-to-3 p.m. for anyone wanting to see the finished second floor and to view the plans for the third floor.
